Product Overview
Now you can fine tune your turbo actuator to the exact needs of your engine with this complete tuning kit. In your actuator tuning kit, you will find four or five springs (dependent on your actuator) and the associated spring retainer. The strongest spring is the red, followed by the blue, yellow and finally the green which is the weakest.
Please select from the options above if you require this kit for an 048 or 049 actuator. The 048 actuators are those with a big body, the 049 actuators are those with a standard size body.
Piston 049 acuators and diaphragm 049 actuators use the same springs.
The spring colour codes and their running pressures are as listed below.
T2 049 (Small) Actuator Springs (Both Piston and Diaphragm Type 049):
Green – running pressure 10 psi (0.7 bar) – spool up/opening pressure 5 psi (0.35 bar)
Purple – running pressure 13 psi (0.9 bar) – spool up/opening pressure 7 psi (0.5 bar)
Yellow – running pressure 15 psi (1.0 bar) – spool up/running pressure 9 psi (0.6 bar)
Blue – running pressure 18 psi (1.2 bar) – spool up/running pressure 14 psi (0.95 bar)
Red – running pressure 20 psi (1.4 bar) – spool up/running pressure 17 psi (1.1 bar)
T3 048 (Big) Actuator Springs:
Green – 10 psi (0.7 bar)
Yellow – 12.5 psi (0.9 bar)
Blue – 17 psi (1.2 bar)
Red – 18 psi (1.3 bar)
We normally supply our actuators, unless requested differently, with a spring that will match the tension of the manufacturer’s original fitment valve. However, as many owners undertake tuning modifications some may wish to re-tune the actuator characteristics to suit a given application.
Note: Serious or fatal damage may occur to the engine and associated components if this product is incorrectly matched to the individual engine requirements. Forge Motorsport nor any of it’s Authorised Distributors can assume any responsibility for any adverse effects resulting from the installation of this product
These kits are NOT suitable for our Diesel actuator for Garrett VNT turbos.
If you are unsure if this product is suitable for your application, please contact us.
*Please Note – The colours of the springs illustrated may differ to what you receive. All spring kits are brand new but are not sprayed. Colour is used as an identifier*
Please note that the quoted spring pressure against the various colour codes relates to the mechanical aspect only, applicable to earlier turbocharged engines that are not ECU/solenoid regulated.
However, modern ECU/solenoid engines do not require the target boost pressure to be matched pound for pound by the quoted mechanical specification of the springs we offer. Please take advice from an appropriately qualified tuner if you are unsure of the correct spring application for your model and the planned level of tuning.
For our T2 spring range (FMAS049):
• Red spool up/opening pressure 17 psi /1.1 bar running pressure/full stroke 20 psi/1.4 bar
• Blue spool up/opening pressure 14 psi/ 0.95 bar running pressure/full stroke 18 psi/1.2 bar
• Yellow spool up/opening pressure 9 psi /0.6 bar running pressure/full stroke 15 psi/1 bar
• Purple spool up/opening pressure 7 psi/0.5 bar running pressure/full stroke 13 psi/0.9 bar
• Green spool up/opening pressure 5 psi/0.35 bar running pressure/full stroke 10 psi/0.7 bar
