The Cometic C4276-040 MLS head gasket is a performance replacement cylinder head gasket developed for Toyota’s legendary 3.0-litre 2JZ-GE and 2JZ-GTE straight-six engines.
Its 87 mm cylinder bore gives additional clearance over the standard 86 mm 2JZ bore, while the .040 inch compressed thickness equates to approximately 1.02 mm. Cometic specifies this version as a three-layer MLS gasket with a round bore and no installation orientation.
Multi-layer steel head gaskets are particularly well suited to performance engines because the layered stainless-steel construction offers high strength, corrosion resistance and the ability to recover under changing cylinder-head clamping loads. Established UK Cometic retailer Burton Power also notes the use of embossed outer layers with a heat-resistant Viton-type coating and an uncoated stainless centre layer.
For UK customers, this gasket is especially relevant to the A80 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo, which Toyota GB sold from 1993 to 1996 with the 2JZ-GTE engine. It is also listed by Cometic for Lexus GS300 and IS300 applications using the naturally aspirated 2JZ-GE.

Vehicle Fitment / Compatibility
Toyota Supra: Cometic lists the Supra from 1993–1998 internationally, but Toyota GB confirms official UK A80 sales only from 1993–1996. UK cars were turbocharged 2JZ-GTE models, so the UK table is restricted accordingly.
Lexus GS300: Cometic lists GS300 applications from 1993–2003. Lexus UK documentation confirms the first-generation GS300 from 1993–1997 and the second-generation GS300 thereafter, both using the 3.0-litre 2JZ-GE during the relevant period.
Lexus IS300: Cometic lists the IS300 from 2001–2003. Lexus GB confirms UK IS300 availability from 2001 and identifies its 2997cc engine as the 2JZ-GE.
